“A security guard from the “La Torre” company of Salerno on duty at the National Cancer Institute G. Pascale Foundation saved a man's life.
The events occurred at 8.30 this morning, when a patient, who was in the facility for visits, felt unwell and, out of fear, called the attention of the guard on duty, Luca Benedetto.
The guard, trained in BLSD maneuvers, immediately began performing cardiac massage while waiting for the arrival of the medical staff and 118 paramedics. The man, who was having a heart attack, was immediately transported to the emergency room of the Cardarelli hospital, in red code.
Thanks to the guard's knowledge of resuscitation maneuvers, the worst was avoided, allowing the patient's life to be saved." - this is what Pasquale Di Fenza, Regional Councilor in Campania, reports in a note.
“Once again, the work carried out by the Security Guards on duty at hospitals in Campania is proving to be crucial not only in protecting and defending healthcare personnel and facilities but also in safeguarding people's lives, in this case patients, by intervening promptly in every situation of risk and danger.
This episode shows us how important it is to be adequately trained and prepared to deal with any situation that may arise in the workplace. The clarity, readiness and courage of the security guard in question is commendable.
I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to Luca Benedetto, as a representative of the institutions". – declared the regional group leader of Centro Democratico, Pasquale Di Fenza.
