Today in the City Council the acknowledgement of an important program agreement, already signed between Acer (Campania Agency for Residential Building), the Campania Region and the Municipality of Naples which will give the go-ahead to the ambitious plan proposed and implemented by ACER, for the redevelopment of the San Francesco district, better known as Friendship District, at Capodichino.
The project, approved within the framework of the “Safe, Green and Social Program for the Redevelopment of Public Housing”, financed with a complementary fund to the PNRR, it will lead to the restoration of approximately 300 homes, currently affected by a very strong degradation, both in the internal and external areas, with serious damage to the area, but also to the entire neighborhood.
The Capodichino real estate assets, entirely owned by Acer, consist of 21 buildings, many of which are in a state of obsolescence and antiquity that is worrying for safety and liveability: Acer's plan includes the recovery and redevelopment of 12 of these buildings with important positive repercussions on improving the life of the neighborhood and its inhabitants.
“Today is a beautiful day for Acer – declared the President David Lebro. We will finally be able to take action and redevelop one of the most degraded districts of Napoli. And this, thanks to an important synergic action with the Campania Region and the Municipality of Naples.
The main interventions – continues the President – are aimed, essentially, at seismic safety and energy efficiency, but also at the redevelopment of common public spaces”.
Acer, always attentive to the quality of the properties it owns, has planned a series of important interventions that do not only concern the province of Naples but that spread throughout the regional territory.
The popular housing development, “Rione San Francesco” on the Capodichino hill, was built in the early 50s, thanks to the Marshall Plan, to host families in need and with significant social problems.
That area was chosen at the time for its proximity to the main road and rail links, but no account was taken of the development that the area would soon experience, also thanks to new production facilities.
