The 72-year-old Antonio Bitonti, known as 'Uccio show' for his artistic participation in numerous television programs, died this morning in the province of Lecce, hit by a train. The carabinieri are investigating to understand if it was a voluntary act or an accident.
The man was found on the tracks of the South-East railways, in Montesano Salentino, the town where he was born and lived. He was seriously injured when he was rescued and taken to the hospital where he later died. A theater and film actor, dancer, “Uccio” had often been a guest on various well-known programs on the Mediaset networks.
Having retired for some time, he continued to be much loved by the public, ironic and funny, always friendly and affable, it was very common to meet him at the many village festivals busy with one of his innumerable entertaining performances.
There have been many messages of affection and grief on social media, among all of which we report a few lines from one that particularly struck us on the web.
“You made your life a variety show…You had fun and you made others have fun. Your sympathy was unmatched”
