Found this morning on the beach of Sapri, in the province of Salerno, a cow shark, “Hexanchus”. The large cetacean arrived already dead on the beach of the seafront, right in the city center. The municipal police officers and the mayor of Sapri, Antonio Gentile, intervened on the scene.
"It is a very young cow shark - the mayor explained to ANSA - about two meters and 20 long, probably trawled and then beached. We took immediate action and the carcass has already been removed from the beach and transferred to another location, before being definitively withdrawn by the competent authorities".
Also on site were the men of the port authority and the veterinarians of the ASL Salerno for the surveys.
