There is also a minor, a 17-year-old from Bangladesh, among the 114 migrants who disembarked this morning in the port of Salerno from the ship Sea Eyes 4.

“As for social policies, we will take charge of it, we have already found the place where to allocate it”, explained the councilor of the Municipality of Salerno, Paola De Roberto, highlighting the work implemented in terms of assistance.

“The first landing took place in 2014, and for almost ten years this city has been close to the most fragile and needy. But it should also be noted that the structures are quite saturated, especially those for minors.

If this trend continues, we will have difficulties,” he added. From the checks carried out on board the ship, it emerged that the majority of migrants come from Bangladesh, 6 are Egyptians, 2 Palestinians and one Israeli. The 113 adults will be distributed in the various CAS present throughout the national territory. Checks are underway to identify any traffickers.

“Our goal is to understand if there are any traffickers on board the vessel,” said the police commissioner of Salerno, Giancarlo Conticchio. “There have been three rescues at sea so we must try to understand who was the pilot of each fiberglass vessel.” The activities were coordinated by the Prefecture of Salerno, represented by the deputy prefect Franca Fico.
