September at the Borgo: the 51st edition presented in the Sala Giunta of the Municipality of Caserta

“Caserta infinita” is the title of the 51st edition of Settembre al Borgo, the historic Casertavecchia festival directed by Enzo Avitabile. From Thursday 31 August to Sunday 3 September, in the welcoming medieval village that rises on the Tifatini mountains, the appointment with the oldest cultural festival in Campania is renewed.

The program was presented in a press conference by the Mayor of Caserta Carlo Marino, by the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Events of the Municipality of Caserta Emiliano Casale, by the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Caserta Enzo Battarra, by Andrea Aragosa and by Luigi Ferraiuolo.

Organized by the Municipality of Caserta and funded by the Campania Region as part of the “Strategic Plan for Culture and Cultural Heritage”, this new edition of Settembre al Borgo presents a program that explores different fields. With free-access shows and initiatives that will feature internationally renowned artists. From the French accordionist Richard Galliano (August 31 – 22.00:2 pm) to the Oscar-winning composer Nicola Piovani (September 22.00 – 1:22.00 pm), from the Turkish dancer Ziya Azazi (September 3 – 22.00:1 pm) to the Indian percussionist Trilok Gurtu & Arké String Quartet (September 23.00 – 3:22.00 pm), passing through the pianist and performer Venovan (September 31 – 23.00:XNUMX pm), the Iranian composer Alireza Mortazavi (September XNUMX – XNUMX:XNUMX pm) and the fingerstyle guitarist Andrea Castelfranato (August XNUMX – XNUMX:XNUMX pm).

“Our 'Settembre al Borgo' is the centre of cultural initiatives in our city and is one of the oldest festivals in the Campania region and beyond. – declares the Mayor of Caserta Carlo Marino –. This year, in addition to the quality of the events on the program, we will have the usual appointment with “Un Borgo di Libri”, during which we will host personalities of absolute importance from the literary and institutional scene. A pleasant confirmation is also “Calici al Borgo”, which also enhances the food and wine excellences that are the basis of a virtuous tourist development”.

"We have reached the seventh year of 'Settembre al Borgo' organized by the Municipality. The festival, thanks to the direction of Maestro Enzo Avitabile, has returned to its original format, with a varied and high-quality program - says the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Events of the Municipality of Caserta Emiliano Casale -. Also this year, then, we will have 'Un Borgo di libri', an event that has grown from year to year and that this year will last even longer, also taking place on the weekend following the end of 'Settembre al Borgo'. Having scheduled the shows from 19 pm to 23 pm will allow bars and restaurants to be able to work profitably throughout the event".

"This is a great, complete festival, which will allow you to appreciate high-level shows, but also to fully breathe the atmosphere of the Borgo, also through food and wine tours, precious for the enhancement of the territory. – declares the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Caserta Enzo Battarra –. This year's program focuses on a Caserta that is open to the world, that dialogues with the world, a city in the South that, despite being influenced by the metropolitan city of Naples, manages to claim a great capacity for culture. 'September at the Borgo' is a great event, that fits perfectly into a cultural program that sees a series of events of absolute value in the city".

Also on the program is the exhibition “Mine in fiore” by Mathelda Balatresi in the spaces of the Church of the Annunziata; and the theatrical show by Piero Grant, “Vanvitelli, il Capocostruttore” (September 2 – 23.30:250 pm) with Marco Caldoro, on the 19th anniversary of the death of Luigi Vanvitelli. “Un borgo di libri” is also dedicated to the painter and architect who wrote the history of the city of Caserta, the section curated by Luigi Ferraiuolo that hosts various meetings with the protagonists of the world of culture during the festival. Expected, among others, are Nicola Gratteri, Paolo Bricco, Antonio Calabrò, Elisa Ruotolo, Giuseppe Montesano, Rudi Guede, Pierluigi Vito, Giancristiano Desiderio. The program is completed with Calici Al Borgo, the wine talk experience dedicated to Campania wines scheduled in the Cicia/Fierro courtyard at 20 and XNUMX pm every evening.

“Every year, in the streets of the ancient village of Casertavecchia, culture and aggregation are celebrated with this great festival. An event that becomes a human and artistic crossroads for a dialogue between the city of Caserta and the rest of the world” declares the artistic director, Enzo Avitabile. "This fifty-first edition will gather, like every year, thousands of people who want to listen, feel, see, know and meet in a magical place, that for four days and four nights opens its arms and the door to an infinity that lives in each of us. Casertavecchia, with its history and its beauties, welcomes music, theater, dance and the different expressive forms of artists from different worlds. The promotion of a territory through the knowledge of its history and the sharing of other stories.
