The Italian Football Federation announces that it has reached an agreement with Luciano Spalletti for the position of Technical Commissioner of the Italian NationalThe Tuscan coach will take up the role starting from September 1, 2023 and the official presentation will take place during the Azzurri training camp, scheduled for the first days of September, at the Federal Technical Center in Coverciano.
“We welcome Spalletti – declares the President of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina -, the national team needed a great coach and I am very happy that he has accepted the technical leadership of the Azzurri. His enthusiasm and his competence will be fundamental for the challenges that await Italy in the coming months”.
Spalletti, the new national team coach, thus becomes the 53rd appointment in the history of Italian national team coaches, including returns and interims. Before Mancini, in the 10s there were Lippi, Prandelli, Conte, Ventura and finally Di Biagio in a brief stint lasting a few friendlies.
