Following complaints from Europa Verde, work began at the end of May to remove tons of waste abandoned near the external Circumvallazione that connects Naples to the municipalities of Casoria and Casavatore, thus freeing up the access ramp to the road axis that connects the municipalities in the northern area of the Campania capital.
The deputy of the Green-Left alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who has been denouncing the landfills of the ring road for years, together with the Casoria city councilor of Europa Verde Salvatore Lavarone, the provincial co-spokesperson of Sole che Ride Agostino Galiero and the Green exponent Rosario Pugliese, carried out an inspection to verify the state of the redevelopment works. Representatives of the Seventh Municipality and the Municipality of Casavatore were also present on site.
“Tons of waste have been removed, much more is still to be disposed of. The cleanup procedures should be completed between the end of August and mid-September, we will return here to verify that this is the case, after which the asphalting work will proceed and cameras will be installed to then reopen the ramp which will guarantee citizens savings in time and money and will reduce the car journey.
The redevelopment works, which should be completed by October, are being carried out by the Municipality of Naples through the intervention of Councilor Edoardo Cosenza.” – declare the 4 Greens- “This ramp had been closed for 5 years and had become a huge landfill due to so many uncivilized and pseudo-business activities that came to dump industrial waste, waste materials, used tires and much more here.
Now the whole area has been fenced off to prevent further discharges during the works. It's shocking that there is so much incivility, it disgusts us.
We promised the citizens that we would take care of this situation and we did. Now we will monitor the progress of the work until the end. Surveillance cameras will also be installed on the site to identify any spills in the future and file a complaint”.
