“A 72-year-old colleague lost her life after being savagely attacked in her tobacco shop in Foggia.”
The news was announced by the national president of the Italian Tobacconists Federation, Mario Antonelli, who explained: “just today the shop had reopened after the summer holidays".
“We once again raise the alarm to the institutions and the police – continues Antonelli – To strengthen control throughout the territory and implement urgent security measures to address this continuing rise in crime. Such dramatic events shock and affect the entire community.
“We are saddened by the colleague who lost her life – declares Raffaele Vincenzo De Tinno, president of the Foggia provincial tobacconist union – and we hope that the criminal can soon be arrested for the brutal crime he committed.
We tobacconists are one of the groups most affected by crime. Thefts and robberies occur constantly, and sometimes, unfortunately, there are real episodes of unprecedented violence, like the one that involved our dear colleague Francesca. Enough with the deaths; we need more controls and security.
