A seismic sequence is underway in Campi Flegrei, in the Gulf of Pozzuoli in the province of Naples.

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) recorded at least seven tremors in the early hours of the night, the most intense of which was of magnitude 2.5 with a hypocenter less than a kilometer deep and an epicenter 6 km from Bacoli.

Three tremors, between 6.20 and 6.22, woke up the population in the city of Pozzuoli who poured into the streets. Seismic movements of magnitude 2.5 and depth 1.2 km, of 3.3 at a depth of 2 km, and of magnitude 2.8 and depth 1.6 km, according to data from the INGV, were felt by residents not only in the Pozzuoli area, but also in Quarto

The tremors were also clearly felt in many areas of Naples from Agnano, Bagnoli, Vomero, Posillipo. Many people poured into the streets both in the city and in the Phlegraean area because the continuous shaking of the houses scared people quite a bit.

Civil protection has been working since last night to carry out checks but at the moment there are no reports of damage to people or things. The municipalities of Pozzuoli and Bacoli are following the situation with particular attention in close contact with the Vesuvian Observatory.
