Electronic eyes fixed on the Vervece, zone A of the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella. The submerged Madonnina rock, in front of Marina della Lobra in Massa Lubrense, will be monitored 24 hours a day by the video surveillance system installed by the Park and already operational. It will record all violations of the AMP regulations, excessive speed of boats, prohibited transit within the integral protection area, where bathing is also prohibited to protect the rich underwater biodiversity.

Within a few weeks, other cameras will be activated to extend video surveillance to other sensitive places in the Marine Protected Area. A stretch of sea that sees a massive influx of boats in the summer, with numerous violations of the regulations, damage to the environment and risks to navigation safety, as repeatedly denounced by the Park in recent months and in recent years.

The video surveillance system, in addition to recording violations of the regulation, will also make a daily report on the number of boats crossing the Area. A monitoring with precise figures and data that will be very useful for the control of the Park. “Another result we had set ourselves has been achieved – comments the President of the Punta Campanella MPA, Lucio Cacace -. Video surveillance will be very useful for us and for the police, thanks to the constant monitoring of the area and more effective control".

“The data that will be transmitted by the system with the daily reports will be used to evaluate the impact of recreational vessels in the Marine Protected Area – underlines the Director Lucio DeMaio -. Through an analysis of these numbers we will be able to adopt the most effective measures to combat infringements of the regulation and ensure greater environmental protection and safety at sea".
