From January to today, the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Naples has conducted a series of operations aimed at combating illicit trafficking of weapons in the territory. The results of these activities demonstrate - behind the numbers - a widespread phenomenon throughout the province of Naples.
During this period, the Carabinieri seized a total of 71 firearms, demonstrating a constant commitment in the fight against the illegal possession of potentially lethal weapons. In addition, 98 cutting weapons were seized, with a peak of 19 seizures recorded in the month of August.
In addition to firearms and cutting weapons, 45 other improper weapons were also confiscated that represented a potential danger to public safety such as knuckle dusters, clubs and nunchucks. Weapons found and seized especially during High Impact services carried out by the Carabinieri during the movida to the detriment of children.
There is no shortage of discoveries and seizures even in the extraordinary territorial control services carried out on the initiative or ordered by the Prefecture. The Spanish Quarters, Caivano, Torre Annunziata are some of the centers that have been the scene of the extraordinary controls by the Carabinieri.
The latest were those carried out yesterday and last night in the neighborhoods of the western suburbs where the Carabinieri combed the streets and common areas of Bagnoli, Fuorigrotta and the Traiano district immediately after the arrests made by the military of the provincial command of Naples.
A switchblade was found in the pockets of a 24-year-old, while in the Traiano district – in the “99” drug dealing square – soldiers from the Bagnoli company's operational unit found a .38 caliber revolver with the serial number erased.

Furthermore, during these operations, 79 people were arrested for the crime of illegal possession and carrying of weapons, including 7 minors. Another 121 people were reported at large for the same crime, including 11 minors.
The Carabinieri have always been committed to preventing and educating young people about the use of weapons. In this context, numerous initiatives have been conducted in schools and youth centers, providing advice and distributing posters and brochures highlighting the risks associated with the use of weapons. This commitment continues with the start of the school year.
It should be emphasized that, despite efforts to combat the phenomenon, we still face a significant number of assaults involving firearms and knives. This year, 175 assaults involving firearms and 50 assaults involving knives were recorded.
The Naples Provincial Command of the Carabinieri reaffirms its ongoing commitment to fighting illicit arms trafficking and educating young people about the dangers of firearms. Citizen safety is a top priority, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure normal behavior.
