“We promote tourism all year round with the aim of launching the Cilento brand”. Thus, the councilor for tourism of the Municipality of Ascea, Valentina Pica, illustrates the calendar of events taking place these days in the Cilento town.
“A deseasonalized tourism with musical and cultural entertainment all year round”, the goal of the municipal administration of Ascea led by the mayor Pietro D'Angiolillo.
Tourist offer combined with a series of events that will see the musical group 99Posse perform on September 30th in Piazza Europa in Ascea Marina, while on December 22nd the theatre of the cultural event will move to the town of Ascea, where the Christmas concert of the polyphonic choir will be held.
Events entrusted to the artistic direction of maestro Lillo De Marco, promoted by the cultural project “Autumn Equinox meets the Fera della Croce di Stio” and co-financed by the Complementary Operational Program POC of the Campania Region 2014-2020 - strategic line “Urban Regeneration, Tourism and Culture Policies”, which involves six municipalities of Cilento, home of the Mediterranean Diet, history, well-being, art and culture of the South, falling within the protected natural area of the Cilento Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, the municipality of San Giovanni a Piro (Lead body), the municipality of Ascea, the municipality of Campora, the municipality of Gioi, the municipality of Orria and the municipality of Stio Cilento, through a busy calendar of events that involves the territories, from the mountains to the coast.
Among the events promoted and funded by the POC in the six municipalities, the unmissable concert by the Raggae and Tammorra music group will take place on September 23rd in the municipality of Orria, in the Santa Domenica area.

Founded around the year 1000, the city of Ascea boasts the prestigious archaeological park of Velia and the eighteenth-century De Dominicis-Ricci palace, which belonged to a well-known aristocratic family whose leading member, Teodosio De Dominicis, was the protagonist of the Cilento uprisings and which has now become the property of the Municipality and hosts exhibitions and cultural events.
However, Ascea is also the city of good living with the food and wine of the internal areas of Cilento and nature trails with the Sentiero degli Innamorati, a trekking path that connects the panoramic point of Punta Telegrafo with the cliff of Marina di Ascea.
“Our promotion action of the events calendar with related thematic itineraries - explains councilor Pica- it is part of a broader project aimed at promoting Cilento for the purpose of creating a Cilento tourism brand that is increasingly known and appreciated around the world because only in these terms can the territory be enhanced”.
