Thus the Deputy Minister for the Environment and Energy Security Vannia Gava, today at Ischia for an inspection of the flooded areas where she was accompanied by the head of the Sustainable Development department of the ministry Laura D'Aprile.
Together with the Commissioner for Reconstruction, Giovanni Legnini, the Vice President of the Campania Region Fulvio Bonavitacola, the Secretary General of the Southern Basin Authority, Vera Corbelli, and all six mayors of the island, the Deputy Minister took stock of the implementation of the plan of urgent measures to reduce hydrogeological risk in the Municipality of Casamicciola and a review of the interventions for the other municipalities of the island.
"Casamicciola and the entire island of Ischia are part of our national heritage, beautiful but vulnerable. The imperative is to overcome the distortions of the past, accelerate the mitigation of hydrogeological risk and, through the new National Plan on adaptation to climate change, increase the level of resilience of the territories by creating the conditions for safe coexistence".
