Arzano. The construction of an industrial warehouse in place of a small building on the central Via Atellana is causing a stir.
The permit issued by the manager would concern the construction of the identical demolished volume but, as always happens in the city, the lack of controls and the poor propensity to respect the building regulations does the rest.
And here it appears in the middle of July, with a concrete slab, a mega shed for the storage of cars in breach of the building permit and built on the boundary wall. And it is not even that difficult to spot the differences from Google maps.
In Arzano, a territory devastated for decades by wild concrete, building abuse is a practice that never goes out of fashion. Just as the poor ability to issue and enforce demolition orders by the technical office never goes out of fashion.
And to understand the extent of the phenomenon, it would be enough to take a walk in the area called ex macello which includes numerous streets including via Aruta, via Pescatore, Via Barbato, etc. Houses and villas built below the retaining walls to make them invisible to the eye.
Not to mention the poor controls on industrial reconversions. Meanwhile, politics basks in the approval of the PUC, unknown to many but which could reserve obvious surprises for some "lucky" ones taking advantage of the poor knowledge of the urban planning tool and the territory of many administrators.
