On the night between 9 and 10 September 2023, four criminals with their faces covered and armed with iron bars robbed the Mario Tortora sandwich shop, located in Viale Michelangelo in Vomero.
The thieves waited until the store closed to break down the front door. Once inside, they ransacked the safe and took everything they could, including cash, merchandise, and equipment.
Lawyer Angelo Pisani, president of Noiconsumatori, commented on the incident with these words:
"This is a very serious episode of violence and burglary that is a clear example of the danger and insecurity of the territory. Not only in Caivano or the Spanish Quarters is crime rampant, but also in Vomero, an area increasingly at risk of violence and robberies.
A new security plan is needed and a tough fight against crime, which often turns such episodes into tragedies. In Vomero the climate is particularly serious because it is an area where there is a lot of nightlife. For this reason we ask the prefect and the mayor to convene a round table on urban security to protect citizens.”
The police are working to identify those responsible for the robbery.
