“Yesterday, Thursday 7 September, at the Ikea store, in baronissi, shortly before the shop opened to the public, a security contractor worker died following an illness.
However, the store doors opened regularly and punctually, once again giving absolute priority to sales and business, regardless of the fact that workers were upset about what had happened to a colleague on duty”.
This was announced by the provincial secretariats of Filcams Cgil and Fisascat Cisl, who, together with the provincial Cgil and the Cisl of Salerno, in addition to expressing condolences, "can only firmly condemn the attitude taken by the Swedish giant on this occasion".
In fact, after learning the news, the store's RSAs immediately asked management to show a tangible sign of sensitivity for what happened by decreeing a one-hour postponement of the opening to the public for today, Friday 8 September, on the occasion of the colleague's funeral.
But once again – the unions explain – unexpectedly, Ikea has shown that it has definitively changed its skin, denying its willingness to grant what would have been a simple gesture of humanity”.
