Ua safe and enjoyable way to discover the fascinating underwater world and live your first underwater experience. The “Baptism of the Sea”, free diving and freediving trials with the guidance of expert diving instructors. The activities, organized by the Municipality of Sorrento and from the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella, will take place on September 16th, starting at 14pm, on the beach of San Francesco in Marina Piccola in Sorrento.
The initiative is part of the European Lifeseanet project, coordinated by Legambiente, which includes the Punta Campanella MPA among its partners and aims to broaden knowledge and protect the marine sites of Natura 2000, the largest network of protected areas in the world, which also includes the seabed of the Sorrento Peninsula and Capri.
Participants (places are limited, you can book at the link https://www.puntacampanella.org/battesimo-del-mare/il-battesimo-del-mare-2023) will be accompanied at sea by expert guides from the diving centers “Punta Campanella”, “Barracuda”, “Bikini”, “Capri Feeediving”, “Sirene Boatdiving”, “Hotel Mary diving” and from the associations Jacques Costeau and Centro sub Torre del Greco.
Through the Baptism of the Sea you will be able to learn the basics to begin diving in complete safety, thanks to some simple theoretical indications, followed by a test in the water of about 15 minutes. “Making people aware of and appreciate the beauty of the underwater world is a fundamental step for everyone to commit to protecting it. – comments the President of the Punta Campanella AMP, Lucio Cacace -.
