The program for the Queen's Bean Festival has been officially announced. It will take place on September 16th and 17th in San Lupo, a charming little town in the province of Benevento that has preserved the importance of its territory and its ancient traditions. The town's symbol is the "Queen's Bean."
A name used to label this legume that dates back to the 18th century linked to a well-known and renowned character from San Lupese of the time, Achille Jacobelli. It is said, in fact, that he was a knight who frequented the court of Frederick II of Bourbon, as well as a man esteemed by Queen Maria Teresa. And it was to the latter that the knight decided to donate a bag of beans that were much appreciated by the king. From that episode, in honor of the sovereign, the typical legume from San Lupese took the name of “the Queen's bean”.
And so this year too the local Pro Loco, in synergy with the Municipality, has organized a two-day event of traditions, culture, flavors and music with tastings of typical products with the queen bean, food stands and live concerts.
An event co-financed by 'POC Campania 2014-2020. Urban regeneration, Tourism and Culture Policies. Single Program of Cultural, Naturalistic and Food and Wine Tourist Itineraries of National and International Importance' and which is part of the brandy identity “Campania.Divina”.
The curtain will rise on Saturday 16 September at 17:30 pm with the presentation of the book I riti di Guardia by Vincenzo Di Crosta; at 19:30 pm opening of the food stands and musical show with the bottari Suoni Antichi.
Sunday 17 September at 17pm an in-depth discussion on the theme of the Queen's bean with industry experts; at 30pm the opening of the food and wine stands followed by a live concert by the musical group.
