They were returning from a night out when their car went off the road and overturned.
Four young people aged between 18 and 20 died in a road accident that occurred at dawn on Sunday 10 September in Cagliari.
The six young people, whose personal details have not been released, were travelling in a Ford Fiesta in the direction of Quartu. The accident occurred on the urban stretch of Viale Marconi, at the height of the Asse Mediano overpass.
According to initial hypotheses, the car hit a sidewalk and overturned several times, ending up against the wall of a house. Four of the young people were thrown from the passenger compartment and died instantly.
The other two remained trapped in the wreckage and were transported in serious conditions to the Brotzu hospital and the Monserrato polyclinic. The Cagliari municipal police, the Carabinieri and the 118 emergency services intervened on site.
The accident caused the closure of the road for several hours. Investigations are ongoing to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident.
The commander of the local police of Cagliari, Giambattista Marotto, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
The accident is a tragic event that shocked the city of Cagliari. The victims were young, they had their whole lives ahead of them. Their memory will always remain alive in the hearts of those who knew them.
