Filomena Liccardi, the new head of the Emergency Department and Obi of the Cardarelli of Naples. Liccardi was deputy to Fiorella Paladino, head of the Emergency Department for many years, who retired on September 1st. "I will work," Liccardi said, "together with all my colleagues in the Emergency Department to develop procedures and pathways that will allow us to further improve the care we provide to our patients and facilitate our work." The new head of the Emergency Department begins work during a period of new renovations to improve part of the Emergency Department.
The position of head physician was filled through a competitive examination that concluded in early September. Seven professionals from Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, and Lombardy applied, three of whom already held positions as head physicians.

The first-place winner, Dr. Antonio Voza, former head of Humanitas Hospital in Rozzano (Milan), declined the nomination last week. The second-place winner, Dr. Filomena Liccardi, formerly acting head of the Cardarelli Hospital, expressed her availability and accepted the position. Liccardi boasts extensive clinical and professional expertise in emergency departments: 61 years old, specializing in both cardiology and anesthesia and intensive care, she spent 29 years of her career in the emergency rooms of Cardarelli, Villa Betania, and Moscati Hospital in Aversa. For the past seven years, she has served as head of the sub-intensive care unit in the Cardarelli Emergency Department.
Liccardi has served as acting head of the department since last March, replacing the previous director, Dr. Fiorella Paladino, who was away on vacation due to her retirement. Manuela Priolo has also been appointed as the new head of Medical and Laboratory Genetics at the Cardarelli Hospital. Priolo has over 60 scientific publications in journals and boasts nineteen years of experience in medical genetics care units, in addition to having served as the southern area coordinator for the Calabria region's rare disease registry for 12 years.
