The students held up signs addressed to the government, including "The Government is sleeping, but where are we sleeping?" and "Tired of waiting, we demand a home." According to the data provided, at Federico II alone, over 3 scholarship recipients are eligible for housing that the university cannot guarantee.
"Federico II has 299 apartments available in Pozzuoli," Barbera continues, "to get to classes, including public transportation, it's like living in Caserta." The shortage of student housing in the city, according to university students, "is closely linked to the phenomenon of overtourism: now there are only B&Bs," which has contributed to rising prices. Today, in Naples, students are charged €450-500 for a room without a proper contract, plus all the costs of utilities.
