From the Justices of the Peace of the Islands, through the South to Central Italy, the cancellations of tax bills, injunctions, and traffic fines issued by Prefectures, Provinces and Municipalities continue.
After a 2023 filled with appeals upheld by judges, attorney Cristiano Ceriello, legal representative of the consumer association "Difesa Consumatori e Contribuenti," is calling for scrutiny of tax collection agencies' notifications.

"We often find reports that have never been received. Copies of the alleged notifications aren't even brought to the hearing, and in some cases, the institution doesn't even appear," as attorney Cristiano Ceriello reiterates, "despite the existence of tax bills and injunctions amounting to thousands of euros. Indeed, it is now clear that some of the requests are unfounded, invalid, and illegitimate, and the entities are even condemned to pay the legal costs, which, of course, will always be borne by us, the taxpayers, since they are public administrations.
But beware of foreclosures – Dr. Pasquale Di Carluccio, president of the association, also reminds us – bank account seizures are becoming increasingly frequent, to the detriment of taxpayers and savers, especially now that dealers have resumed collection.
