The three-day gastronomic event organized and promoted by the Consortium for the Protection of Gragnano IGP Pasta with the collaboration of the Municipality of Gragnano and the Campania Region.
The 10st edition of “Gragnano Città della Pasta”, the gastronomic event organized and promoted by the Consortium for the Protection of Gragnano IGP Pasta in collaboration with the Municipality of Gragnano and the Campania Region, ended on Sunday 21 September with extraordinary success in terms of public and consensus.
The Consortium for the Protection of Gragnano IGP Pasta archives the extraordinary 2023 edition of Gragnano Città della Pasta which for three days, from 8 to 10 September, animated the city of Gragnano with a busy calendar of events, with food and wine and cultural themes, talks and thematic seminars, starred chefs and food stands, live performances and street art.
Over 30 thousand visitors, 15 thousand portions of pasta distributed, 14 chefs at work, 7 on-the-road cooking stations, 3 show cooking sessions with Angelo Mattia Tramontano, I primi d'Italia, Antonio Ciotola, 14 recipes prepared, 5 conferences, over 50 live shows and different itinerant shows every evening, 14 open gates, the creative play laboratory with over 220 children involved, these are some of the numbers recorded at the 21st edition of the event inaugurated on Friday 8 September in the presence of the President of the Consortium, Massimo Menna, the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, and the Mayor of Gragnano, Aniello D'Auria, with the traditional "Cutting of Spaghetti".
During the event, the “Gragnano Città della Pasta” 2nd edition Award – established by the Municipality of Gragnano – was presented to Maddalena Fossati Dondero who, as Director of the historic and authoritative gastronomic magazine, carries forward the identity value of Italian Cuisine in an inclusive, transversal and global way; the Mayor of the Municipality of Gragnano Aniello D'Auria, as a sign of welcome and recognition, handed over the keys to the city to the well-known director, screenwriter and writer Ferzan Ozpetek who, on Sunday 10 September, was the protagonist of the meeting “A Tavola con Ozpetek” moderated by Monica Caradonna, journalist, Rai correspondent and host of Linea Verde Life.
“Gragnano Città della Pasta” 2023 also celebrated the important milestone of the tenth anniversary of obtaining the Protected Geographical Indication mark, the first community quality recognition awarded to pasta in Italy and Europe, and was the occasion to inaugurate the Lo Monaco Mill, whose restoration was carried out by the Gragnano and Monti Lattari Culture and History Center “Alfonso Maria Di Nola” with the important contribution of the Consortium for the Protection of Gragnano IGP Pasta.
Also important was the participation in Gragnano Città della Pasta of the prestigious National Consortia (Consortium for the Protection of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP, Consortium for the Protection of Ricotta di Bufala Campana DOP, Consortium for the Protection of Tomato San Marzano DOP, Consortium for the Protection of Grana Padano DOP, Consortium for the Protection of Pecorino Romano DOP, Consortium for the Protection of Vitellone Bianco dell'Appennino Centrale IGP, Aprol Campania Società Cooperativa Agricola) which, coming from different regions of Italy, synergistically enriched the event, bringing their excellence and describing with passion and pride all the goodness of our country.
