Yesterday, August 31st, the choir and orchestra of La Scala opened their European tour of Verdi choirs at the Verona Arena, which includes nine concerts in eight countries, to raucous applause. Following the news of the incident in Naples, the horn players decided to record a video to offer their condolences and dedicate their performance to Giovanbattista Cutolo, the 24-year-old musician killed over a parking lot, also a horn player.
"The choirs of La Scala - they explained with superintendent Dominique Meyer at their side - want to join in the mourning of the family of Giovanbattista Cutolo for the umpteenth act of violence that has left us astonished and saddened. In this great location tonight we have the opening concert of our tour and we wanted to dedicate a thought to him by offering our condolences"
