A 10-year-old boy, Gabriele Cesaratto, died last night at the Santa Maria degli Angeli hospital in Pordenone, where he had been admitted in serious condition after an explosive device exploded this afternoon in Vivaro, on Via del Pozzo.
Gabriele was with his grandfather, Silvio Cesaratto, 73, in a shed owned by the elderly man when the explosion occurred. The device, likely a military surplus, was found by his grandfather while doing some gardening work.
The grandfather was also injured in the blast and is hospitalized in serious condition at Pordenone Hospital. He suffered injuries to his legs, but his condition is stable.
A file has been opened against the elderly man for possession of explosives and manslaughter.

The explosion occurred around 6:00 PM. Once the alarm was raised, the fire department, a medical car, two ambulances, and a rescue helicopter arrived on the scene. The child was resuscitated for a long time, then taken to the hospital in critical condition by an ambulance with the rescue helicopter team on board.
Gabriele lived in Vivaro with his parents and a little brother. He had a strong passion for football: he would soon make his debut for the Vivarina Under 13s.
The mayor of the small town in the Pordenone area, Mauro Candido, has declared a day of mourning on the day of Gabriele's funeral. In a post on social media, he expressed his condolences, on behalf of the communities of Vivaro, Basaldella, and Tesis, for "the tragic loss of little Gabriele."
Candido then extended his "deepest condolences to the parents, and the support of the municipal administration, as well as the entire population, for this terrible tragedy."
