Archbishop Mimmo Battaglia, during his homily for the celebrations of San Gennaro, urged citizens to work together to ensure that young Neapolitans are not forced to emigrate to fulfill their dreams.
"Let us work together to create a miracle: a city and a country where everyone can feel at home, where no young person is overlooked and every talent is valued.
Here," he continued, "in this beautiful yet wounded land that today more than ever needs beauty and from which our young people are too often forced to flee, unable to find the opportunity to express their potential in a healthy way, and facing too many obstacles to building their future.
Let's work together for our community, let's feel truly belonging to each other.

Archbishop Mimmo Battaglia's homily included a call to care for young people and the recovery of those in difficulty, especially in light of the tragic death of 24-year-old Giovanbattista Cutolo, killed in Piazza Municipio in Naples during an argument over a stolen scooter.
"Let us dream together, I beg you, of the miracle of a city and a country where the problems of our children, teenagers, and young people don't become political and social issues only after yet another tragedy, but rather are a constant subject of reflection and action, creating that educational pact that still needs to take many steps before it becomes practice," said the prelate.
The archbishop then outlined the steps to be taken: "This city needs to start again from the world of education, from the primary role of schools, from an educational policy that, through kindergartens and community networks, allows the sons and daughters of Naples to grow up in safe and healthy places. This city needs to start again from culture and art, from beauty, from places where we can learn the noblest notes, colors, thoughts, and ideas."
