AAlso this year, the Green Left Alliance, with Franco Mari and Elisabetta Piccolotti as first signatories, addressed a parliamentary question to Minister Valditara regarding the use by the Ministry of Education of an automated online procedure for assigning temporary teaching positions.
This procedure has again produced numerous errors in the assignment of chairs. The algorithm used, similar to that of the previous year, seems not to have taken into account some crucial parameters.
As a result, several chairs have been awarded to candidates with less merit than their colleagues.
The Green Left Alliance calls on the government to urgently adopt corrective measures to address the errors generated by the algorithm in the distribution of chairs from the provincial rankings for substitute teaching positions. The primary objective is to ensure a start to the school year without disadvantages for teachers, students, families and the quality of education.
According to data provided by Flc Cgil, there are approximately 100.000 chairs to be assigned among the substitutes and another 80.000 places in derogation for support. The deadline for submitting online applications was July 31.
Due to the problems encountered in the previous school year, the trade unions had reported various malfunctions, offering detailed observations and proposed solutions in response to the controversies caused by the evident errors of the algorithm.
However, the fact that the same errors have recurred suggests that the Ministry has not adequately, if at all, addressed the necessary maintenance interventions of the algorithm.
It is important to note that the automated procedure is managed by a consortium of companies, including Enterprise Services Italia, an IT company controlled by the US multinational Dxc Technology and Leonardo. The value of the tender is estimated at 5,3 million euros, as reported by 'Wired'.
