Funeral escorted by a hundred scooters Salvatore Apice, a young man from Scampia who died due to a serious illness.

The young man is the son of the well-known criminal Costanzo Apice, in prison for murder but who rose to prominence years ago for the famous murder of the killer with the beret.

It was May 12, 2009 and in front of a bar on Via Vergini, in the Rione Sanità, in the center of Naples, the boss Mariano Bacioterracino was killed by gunfire. The scene was captured by surveillance cameras, the images were then released by the Naples Police Headquarters in an attempt to give a name to that killer who, gun in hand and cap pulled down on his head, fired several gunshots at the target from close range.

Costanzo Apice was identified as the cap-wearing killer: he had been sentenced to life imprisonment at the first and second instance trials, but the Court of Cassation had remanded the trial to a different section of the Court of Appeal; on January 5, 2022, he was acquitted.

However, he is now in prison for the murder of Carmine Grimaldi, known as "Bombolone", the Licciardi clan's contact in San Pietro a Patierno, killed in an ambush on July 18, 2007, during a clash with the Sacco-Bocchetti secessionists.

The man was not allowed to leave prison to attend the funeral, which was attended by hundreds of people. The funeral was held this morning in the church in the Don Guanella district, in the northern suburbs of Naples.

Banners have appeared in the neighborhood, reportedly put up by friends of the missing boy: "A piece of our heart has flown away with you, but we will continue to live joyfully, confident that one day we will meet again," read one of them.

The situation was monitored by law enforcement, with plainclothes officers. It should be clarified that the boy was not believed to be involved in any criminal activity and had nothing to do with his father's past.

In fact, there were many souvenir photos and messages of affection posted on social media.
