The funeral of Giovanbattista Cutolo, the young musician killed in Piazza Municipio in Naples at the end of an argument, will take place next Wednesday 6 September at 15pm in the church of Gesù Nuovo in Naples.

This was made known during the demonstration that took place today in Piazza Municipio. On the occasion of the funeral, the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, has ordered a day of mourning for the city. The Archbishop of Naples will preside over the ceremony, Domenico Battaglia.

“I want my son’s funeral to be a redemption for the city.” He said so Daniela Di Maggio, Giovabattista Cutolo's mother.“I want this funeral to become an event,” he said. “I would like all the Napoli players to come, everyone must be there.

I ask all musicians to participate. I ask this to osimhen and to the Napoli players: please, participate too. So many and many will come and the bad people of the city will return to the saettelle (the manholes, ed.).

My son's death is a sacrifice, I want a street, a square to be named after him, so as to say: 'Where can we meet?', 'In Giovabattista Cutolo square'. So no one will forget it

We must give a strong signal that the State is there and have certainty of punishment. If from tomorrow the poor soul of my son does not bring changes we will find ourselves with increasingly younger kids with guns in their hands – he states – Naples must become the city of culture, of Benedetto Croce. Not just openings of kebab shops and pizzerias, we must open museums and bookstores”

Don Patriciello hugs Giovanbattista Cutolo's mother

"Naples must be returned to the good Neapolitans. There is a minority of criminals that must be prosecuted, condemned, re-educated". Don Maurice Patriciello participated today in Naples in the demonstration in memory of Giovanbattista Cutolo.

The priest hugged and met the young man's mother, Daniela Di Maggio. “At 16 years old – the priest emphasized – these young people are no longer minors. Now we need to change.”

Then a prayer at the site of the murder of Giovanbattista Cutolo, together with his mother and the people who gathered on the occasion of the demonstration promoted in Naples by the parliamentarian Francesco Emilio Borrelli. The parish priest of Caivano, Don Maurizio Patriciello, recited it.

An invitation to Camorristi to change their lives

In his words there is also the invocation for the Camorristi “change their lives”. “Lord,” said Don Patriciello, “we pray for this young man. Welcome him into Heaven with the angels and saints. Lord, we pray for this mother who is so courageous and strong, give her so much consolation and so much strength to fight a battle for our Naples and all our young people.

We pray to you for all the good people of this city. Let them come out of their shells to shout to the world the desire for justice, peace, serenity. Give us the grace to work, fight, toil, sweat for the justice, peace and serenity of this city to love as ourselves.

We pray to you not to be afraid to condemn evil and to stay close to this family so tried". And then, the prayer "for the criminals of this city, for the Camorristi who do not want to change. May the Lord touch the hearts of the Camorristi, may they change their lives, may they realize that they are ruining themselves and their children first and foremost".

A law in the name of Giovanbattista Cutolo and a square dedicated to him. These are the requests of Daniela Di Maggio, the mother of the murdered musician, who participated in a demonstration promoted by the parliamentarian Francesco Emilio Borrelli.

A law that provides for a lowering of the age of criminal responsibility and certainty of punishment. And Borrelli also urged the removal of parental authority from criminal parents.
