With a song that smells of late summer, SOLO returns with “Summer fading (late love song)”.
After the electronic music of “Stati emozionali”, the psychedelia of “Don't shoot the piano player (it's all in your head)”, the indie pop/dance of “Something (you don't need)” and the punk/grunge of “Propaganda in my eyes, again (you're erased)”, yet another change of direction for SOLO, this time grappling with a song that mixes dream pop, shoegaze and alternative rock with the usual approach to psychedelia and experimentation, in this case mainly oriented towards experimental electronics.
“Summer fading (late love song)” is a love song; but it is not the usual dedication to someone; “Summer fading (late love song)” is a song that questions what love is, and how that feeling is perceived over time by a person, from childhood to adulthood.
"'Summer Fading (Late Love Song)' is a song about the passing of time, and how it, and the experiences we go through, influences us, including our relationship with that feeling we call 'love'—or, if you will, 'falling in love'. It's divided into three parts: in the first, I ask myself how a child can interpret that feeling of falling in love that we hear so much about everywhere, between the interpretations and influences of adults and those of fiction and the media; in the second part of the song, the question is posed from the perspective of an adolescent; and in the final part, the questions of adulthood arrive."
“WAS THAT LOVE TRUE?”
“Summer fading (late love song)” is a song that changes over time both in its lyrics and in its music, as if to underline with music how a person changes over time, and how his relationship with life and with his own feelings changes.
"In the first part, the one dedicated to childhood, the arrangement is sparse: dreamy dream pop/shoegaze guitars intertwine in an arpeggio; a cello provides support; the voice is delicate and faint, emotional.

Launched as an exclusive preview on La Stampa, the music video accompanying “Summer fading (late love song)” is a crescendo of distorted images that start from a dawn and end with a sunset.
"Actually, the sunset we see at the end of the video is simply the sunrise that introduces the video, but played in reverse. Just as I like using reversed sounds in my songs, or at least working a lot with effects, I also find it interesting to experiment with images. In fact, the video for "Summer Fading (Late Love Song)" is composed of a whole series of images distorted in color and saturation, giving it a psychedelic feel, as a metaphor for how our memories of the past are necessarily distorted by time and how we experience the present. As with the song's lyrics and music, I tried to convey a sense of "evolution" in the video too, looking for appropriate images that best fit the song's shifts in tone."
The image that stands out on the cover of the single, a sunset over the sea of Stintino (SS), but upside down, is courtesy of Asinara4x4.
"For the cover of “Summer fading (late love song)” I wanted something that recalled the melancholy of late summer, that time of year that reminds us how time passes, that moment that brings with it both the joy of lived experiences and the remorse of how everything, inexorably, slips away; but I also wanted something that underlined my psychedelic approach to music: hence the choice to invert the photo, making it alienating."
Vocals, guitars and bass were recorded by SOLO at The Bordello Rock 'n' Roll Studio; drums were recorded by David Garofalo at his personal studio; mixed and mastered by Edoardo Di Vietri, at Hexagonlab Recording Studio.
“Summer fading (late love song)” is the fifth single released by SOLO, and anticipates the release of his first solo album, “The importance of words (songs of love, anti-capitalism and mental illness)”.
