Genoa-Napoli, the ratings: Raspadori and Politano save a Napoli too ugly to be true

Il Napoli stops again: after the internal defeat with the Lazio, the Azzurri are not even convincing at the Marassi against the Genoa and only saved face at the end, getting a point in a comeback. From 2-0 to 2-2 thanks to Breakers e politan, who came off the bench, but the performance was not satisfactory. Here are the report cards.

Meret: 6. Blameless on both goals, although as already mentioned in the home match against Lazio, he lacked the spark that would have saved the evening: the opponents scored too easily.

He does what he can, having his say by coming out high and parrying a shot from outside by Retegui.

By Lorenzo: 5,5. Up front, as usual, he was proactive and even created some interesting situations in the first half by shooting from inside the box. In the second half, he was not without blame for Retegui's second goal, also due to a general sluggishness from the defense.

Ostigard: 5,5. He is very effective on high balls, but his limited playing time and lack of understanding with his teammates, especially Juan Jesus, make themselves felt.

The 2-0 goal was a mixed bag: Meret came out high and punched it down, and Retegui slotted it home as the play developed.

Juan Jesus: 5. In this up-and-down start to the season, the focus of fans and critics has been primarily on him, who until now has been Kim's "substitute." There was too much uncertainty at the back: Bani easily freed himself from his marker and scored from two steps away from goal.

Mario Rui: 5,5. He needs to recover his condition, which is why he disappears at times and loses intensity.

Up front he may not have offered the hoped-for contribution, even if Napoli perhaps now more than ever needs his technique and the performances that last year made him one of the pillars of the Italian champions (from 58' Mathias Olivera: 6).

Anguissa: 5.

Unrecognizable. That's the only word to describe the Cameroonian's start to the season.

He started the season out of form, but he didn't seem to make any progress as the weeks went by. His contact with De Winter was too weak to let himself fall in the area and open the door to Genoa's 1-0 (from 58' Raspadori: 7. Splendid the network that reopens the accounts).

Lobotka: 6. He remains less involved in the Azzurri's maneuvers and play compared to last year, confirming the feelings from the beginning of the season: it is clear that this is Garcia's tactical approach.

He does his part: the highlight of the match was the recovery on Frendrup who was launched towards goal in the 20th minute which saved the defence (from 75' Cajuste: 6,5. He sends signals: entry and assist for Raspadori).

Zielinski: 6. Few flashes of brilliance, few thrills, especially in the first half. In the final minutes, however, he demonstrated the importance of his role and what he can contribute in this new position on the pitch, as already seen in the first three matches: a soft and precise touch for Politano, who then splendidly scored the equalizer.

Elmas: 5. Nod.

A yellow card after just a few seconds, a single initiative promptly closed by the Genoa defence on Di Lorenzo's suggestion. Then cosmic nothingness.

The Macedonian is the team's 'joker', undoubtedly, but perhaps he needs to be reconsidered on the right (from 46' Politano: 7. Author's goal to return home with at least a point).

osimhen: 5,5. His willpower and determination are beyond question, his movements are there, and the Nigerian always gives the impression of being a threat to all opponents. The game doesn't help him; he lacks the understanding he had with Kvara in his prime, and few balls reach him; he also lacks decisive play.

Kvaratskhelia: 5. A few flashes of brilliance, but nothing more, this time even fewer than in the match against Lazio, when it lasted 30 minutes: this time, the minutes of quality play were even fewer.

Just a couple of plays that make it clear that the Georgian hasn't changed and that perhaps he just needs to get into better shape (from the 89th minute Doormat: sv).
