Geolier (Emanuele Palumbo, by birth) the most famous singer of the Neapolitan youth scene did not need to be asked twice to intervene in the case of the young musician killed in Piazza Municipio in Naples following Gianfranco Gallo's request.
The actor, in an open letter on Facebook, had invited Geolier to intervene on the episode, starting from his old songs in which branded accessories were indicated as status symbols.
Letter that had been exploited by someone who wanted to create a non-existent conflict between the two.
Below we report the letter from Gianfranco Gallo and then the response post on Instagram by Geolier.
Letter to Geolier while he walks the Red Carpet in Venice.
“Dear Emanuele, I like the music you make, even if for you I'm someone you would call “'o Zí”. I don't know if you go to the cinema or the theatre but you will know me because you will have seen the series Gomorra, I was Avitabile, Genny's father-in-law.
I discovered you a few years ago and I immediately understood that you would become what you are today. I really like “Voglio sulo a te”, a bit R&B, you know how it is…age. I saw you on the Red Carpet in Venice, I did a couple with films in competition, I don’t enjoy them, they bore me, I hope that you like them instead, even if from the face you have you wouldn’t say so. Did you hear what happened in Naples?
A boy who made music like you, was shot by a boy who steals watches, those Rolexes you talk about as the ultimate goal of a finish line. I understand the moment you wrote certain things, I understood you when you sang them, that was the climb, now from above you can look at the world better.
I understood you, but now you have to understand that you have to change without hesitation. You see, I happened to see a photo of the murderer, he dresses like you, he dresses like you, you looked like you. I don't blame you for the past, but now you are a top artist and you have to make it clear that whoever wants to imitate you must make music like Giovan Battista and not aspire to have a Rolex by committing robberies like his murderer".
Come on Emanuel, Gianfranco Gallo.
This is Geolier's post
You can't die at 24, in the most beautiful season of the year, for a parking lot. At 16, no one should have a gun. In the neighborhoods, kids need to change their mentality and escape from all this evil.
I want to tell him that going out just to have fun with friends is not for weak people, that going to school is not for idiots, that bringing flowers to a girl he likes is not a shame. It's time for all of us to do our part so that kids change, starting from things that may seem small and far from what happened two days ago, but it's not like that. It's all part of the same mentality. Bye, Giambattista, it's not fair.
