The Sbandieratori Cavensi will participate in Corfu, Greece, from 5 to 10 September, at the
CIOFF® Festival “Mediterranean Cultures”, a review that will bring together groups on the Ionian island
coming from sixteen countries of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Festival is organized every four years by the Southern Europe Sector of CIOFF®,
the official international partner organization of UNESCO that brings together groups and
organizers of international folklore festivals, and to whose Italian national section
the Sbandieratori Cavensi organizing the Festival of the towers, which this year celebrated the
its thirty-second edition.
Groups from Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy will participate in the Festival of Mediterranean Cultures.
Montenegro, Morocco, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and Tunisia.
The Sbandieratori Cavensi will have the honor of representing Italy with a delegation composed of twenty-five flag-wavers, drummers and clarions.
Over four hundred and fifty artists, musicians, dancers and researchers from sixteen
participating countries will present the intangible cultural heritage of the Mediterranean with
music, performances, video mapping, exhibitions, gastronomic workshops and cultural conferences.
The Sbandieratori Cavensi, in particular, will present their performance in various
parts of the island of Corfu, as well as the capital, in the northern towns of Kassiopi and Sinies.
