The escape ended on Via Cupa Verano, where the two men who had abandoned their car and scooter were stopped and searched by the Carabinieri, amid the applause of residents who had witnessed the arrest. The arrested men were found in possession of a screwdriver, a wrench, and a tool for modifying control units.

The investigations revealed that the Lancia had been stolen a few minutes earlier in via Regina Margherita while the owner was in church for Holy Mass. The equipment and the scooter were seized while the car was returned to its rightful owner. Those arrested - who must answer for theft and resisting arrest - are awaiting trial.
