Cava de' Tirreni symbol of history and culture thanks to the Sbandieratori Città della Cava. Many attendances recorded for “La Cava, civitas fidelissima 1460”.

Extraordinary success for the event “La Cava, civitas fidelissima 1460” held last weekend in the town of Metelli. The number of attendees registered in the three days dedicated to the Pergamene Bianca was high with people coming from all over the region. Sold-out, in fact, on Saturday evening for the theatrical performance “Assedio a La Cava” curated by Andrea Carraro who recalled one of the most important historical moments in the history of the Aragonese domination and which had the people of Cava as its protagonist.

The entire event was impressive and evocative, with religious functions, parades, theater and music included in the kermesse, all to revive the medieval charm of the ancient and very civilized town of Cava. Closing the event, on Sunday, September 3, were the talented students of the Conservatory of Salerno “Giuseppe Martucci”, members of the “Samnium Clarinet choir” who performed in the cloister of the historic Franciscan convent. Directed by maestro Gaetano Falzarano, the musicians performed compositions by Puccini, Verdi and pieces by the famous composer and clarinetist Walter Farina.

But the success of the entire event, which for three days brought Cava back to its ancient splendor, is due exclusively to the moral, practical and economic commitment of the Associazione Sbandieratori Città de La Cava, led by president Felice, who conceived, designed and created the entire event with the sole purpose of preserving and passing on the history of Cava de' Tirreni.

Applause that the day after the event comes from both the citizens of Cava de' Tirreni and from many operators in the sector, who shared the outburst of the embittered president Abate - and it could not be otherwise - for the disinterest that the institutions, at all levels, have shown towards such an impressive event.

The story of the White Parchment is a story of resistance and courage, the same that is needed every day to continue to believe in a cultural project capable of involving an entire community. The same that the standard-bearers of the City of Cava have been demonstrating since 1969.
