The MAECI's commitment finds an international response with the aim of placing Italy at the center of cooperation policies in countries that need such interventions. These resources were distributed between four main areas of intervention: protection of tangible and intangible tangible and intangible cultural heritage; development of cultural and creative industries; sustainable tourism development; education and awareness of culture. Heritage interventions are a priority for safeguarding the socio-cultural fabric of the territories on which they exist, as evidenced by the active projects in Tunisia and Morocco for North Africa and in Havana for Central America, catalysts for the development of sustainable tourism such as the interventions on the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Petra (Jordan), Baalbek and Tire (Lebanon) and, in Albania, for the protection and valorisation of the prestigious archaeological site of Byllis.
