“No damage to people or buildings after the timely checks carried out by the technicians of the Municipality and the Municipal Police”.
The mayor of Pozzuoli Gigi Manzoni said this at the end of the seismic swarm, which yesterday evening at 19,45:3.8 pm recorded the strongest shock (magnitude 39) in the last 23,50 years. The end of the swarm was communicated by the Vesuvius Observatory at XNUMX:XNUMX pm.
“During the meeting at the Town Hall, which lasted until late at night with the local Civil Protection officials, the managers of the Agency and the heads of the Municipal Police, no critical issues or damage emerged in light of the few reports of intervention received.
While understanding the citizens' concern – the mayor specified – I once again urge the population to remain calm and rely on official communication channels.
The administration is paying the utmost attention to mitigating the risk deriving from bradyseismic phenomena. I am in constant contact with the INGV and with Italo Giulivo, general director of the Regional Civil Protection Office, with whom I will discuss further this afternoon.
Furthermore, next Wednesday I will be in Rome to meet the Minister of Civil Protection Nello Musumeci: I will ask him to issue a specific provision that includes important measures to adequately address the risks deriving from the bradyseismic phenomenon, starting with the allocation of resources to complete the checks and the execution of structural interventions on public buildings and infrastructures and to facilitate citizens in the activities of control and static adaptation of privately owned properties".
Finally, after the meeting at the ministry, a meeting has already been scheduled in the Metropolitan City between the mayor of Naples Manfredi and all the mayors of the Phlegraean Municipalities for a further examination of the problem and the choice of possible joint initiatives to adopt.
