A large-scale fire is burning not far from several homes in Torre del Greco, in the area of Via Boccea, one of the arteries of the city outskirts that winds along the protected areas of the Vesuvius National Park.
To put out the fire, also driven by the wind that makes interventions more difficult, two helicopters are also being used, but the fire-fighting operations department and the regional civil protection have asked that a Canadair and an Erickson helicopter also be sent.
Ground teams of firefighters and local volunteer associations are also active on site.
