And at the sixth theInter he stopped. After the Juventus, Sassuolo snatches another scalp from a big team, conquering San Siro in a comeback inspired by Berardi and handing their first defeat to Simone Inzaghi's men, who were coming off five wins in their first five league games.
A run that suddenly ends for the Nerazzurri, even if some warning signs had already been glimpsed in the difficulties with Real Sociedad in Champions League and with Empoli. Lautaro Martinez and his teammates are now joined at the top of the table by AC Milan (with Juventus two points behind), but above all, they demonstrate that they haven't fully recovered from last season's difficulties, given the many points dropped against teams that aren't top-tier.
Inter's performance waned, starting well but faltering minute by minute, collapsing early in the second half despite Dumfries' late first-half lead. A less-than-perfect Sommer also played a part, his clumsy save on a Bajrami shot leading to Sassuolo's equalizer before Berardi's spell secured the three points for the Neroverdi.
Spurred on by the 70-plus crowd at San Siro, Inter had started well, immediately stepping on the accelerator with Thuram revving up and racking up corners (three in the first five minutes). The Nerazzurri's mistake, however, was to slow down, perhaps overconfidently, as if they knew that sooner or later a chance to break the deadlock would come.
The problem, however, is that Sassuolo have gained confidence and the field in the meantime, with Darmian closing down Pinamonti at the last minute and Sommer responding first to Toljan and then to Bajrami.

But that all is not well is immediately demonstrated by Calhanoglu, who gives Bajrami a chance to equalize, but the midfielder fails to convert after beating Sommer. What seemed like mere signs in the first half became certainties at the start of the second half, as Inzaghi's men practically never leave the locker room.
Erlic had the ball in the net to make it 1-1, but his header from inside the six-yard box failed to hit the target, with the ball going just wide. But it was only a matter of minutes before Berardi found Bajrami, whose powerful right-footer Sommer mistimed and saved Sassuolo's equalizer.
And the Neroverdi didn't stop, inspired once again by Berardi: this time the winger took matters into his own hands, skipping past Mkhitaryan and putting the visitors ahead with a superb left-footed volley. Inzaghi tried to turn things around with his substitutions, and former player Frattesi had the ball to equalize, but Consigli did well to block.
But it's only a flash, as Laurienté has two chances to make it 3-1, but Sommer gets in his way. These are the last moments of the game, Inter don't even have the energy for a final push, except for a missed opportunity by Lautaro: Sassuolo laughs, and Inzaghi's run, after a sprint start, comes to a halt.
