The site is among the first in Italy to implement a systemic approach to the entire site for the management of safety and emergencies.

The Archaeological Park of Ercolano has always been committed to ensuring the widest possible enjoyment for its visitors, respecting both the safety of the visiting conditions and the conservation and decorum of the ancient city.

As part of a constantly expanding urban-scale management system, the Cardioprotection project has been launched in recent days, through the design and positioning of a network of defibrillators in high-visibility, illuminated, alarmed and remote-controlled cases on the Site.

“As we have already done for conservation aspects, also for the safety of visitors and workers we follow an approach on an urban scale. Thus another piece is added to the puzzle of taking care of our visitors. – declares the Director Francesco Sirano – The commitment to the care and safety of the visit is a priority for us, with this further implementation visiting the Ercolano Park will be even more pleasant and safe. The Integrated Safety Management Plan of the Archaeological Park aims to increase the activities aimed at a use that guarantees adequate protection and safeguard and also includes a training plan for the correct use of the equipment”.

It is not just a simple installation of instruments, but a real study of the site plans and the most suitable interventions to respond to the need for resuscitation, contemplated in 4 – 6 minutes by the health protocols in the event of cardiac arrest.

Based on these protocols, the Park has therefore designed both the number and the location of the installations both on the Site and in the modern buildings serving visitors, with defibrillator housing in colours that are visible but not in contrast with the landscape enjoyment of the context.

The installations are therefore located between the ticket office, the Museum/Antiquarium, the Surveillance Coordination Office, the Ancient Theatre, and the administration offices.

The project is completed by a training program involving all Park staff, which will increase the potential use of the new equipment made available to all those who frequent the Park.

The map with the location of the defibrillators is available to visitors on the Park's website: ercolano.beniculturali.it/oraricontatti.
