628 million euros are the total resources that Europe will assign to young researchers who are authors of projects aimed at improving the future of new generations in numerous scientific fields.
The resources of the European Research Council will be assigned on the basis of a ranking of the awarded projects that sees Italy in fourth place, with 32 winning projects among those presented by 24 European countries. The countries that achieved the best results are: Germany, with 87 projects, France with 50 and the Netherlands with 44.
The President of the European Research Council ERC Maria Leptin also highlighted the increase in women who have achieved the allocation of resources, with 43% compared to 39% achieved in the previous year. The President also stated that “it is part of our mission to give talents who are at the beginning of their careers the independence they need to pursue their curiosity-driven research that can shape our future”.
The importance of Research for European citizens is certainly confirmed on occasions like this, to the advantage of a society that intends to invest its energies in cultural progress even before socio-economic progress. The proposals presented were 2.696 and it is expected that the resources assigned will be able to generate paths for approximately 2.600 post-doctoral fellows and doctoral students.
