Mother of Murdered Musician: “Let’s Chase Away the Tumor That’s Killing Naples”

“Until Wednesday, when maybe the funeral will take place, I want to see a mountain of flowers here.”

The mother said so Giovanbattista Cutolo once the procession in memory of the musician arrived at the place where he was killed, in Piazza Municipio.

The woman added: “I will ask Mayor Gaetano Manfredi to put a plaque where my son was killed.” In the middle of the square, then, all the people who paraded starting from Piazza Bellini they knelt in memory of the 24-year-old.

“My son was killed in such a beautiful square. But whoever killed him also killed those who are behind me. We ask for justice, certain punishment. Life imprisonment!” said the woman, in a speech greeted with loud applause.

The participants of the demonstration gathered near the place where the 24-year-old was killed. In the front row was also the mother of Francesco Pio Maimone, the young man murdered in March in Mergellina by his peer Francesco Pio Valda, son of a Camorrista from Barra.

“Justice for Giovanni!” is the cry repeated in front of the crime scene, where white roses and other flowers have been placed. “Our brother is watching us,” said a friend, “he will never come back, but we are here to try to improve society and make sure these things never happen again.”

A cry rises from the procession, “Get rid of the tumor!”, in reference to “crime that kills Naples”. It's still “Giogiò we love you”The demonstration ended with the emotional gratitude of the mother of the murdered boy to the many participants: "Thank you all", Daniela Di Maggio said through the megaphone.
