A dialogue that further opens up between the book and the reader, who can enrich the volume with their own observations, sensations, and most intimate emotions thanks to the space dedicated to them by the author. A book to be read, written, and experienced.
Maurizio De Giovanni's masterclass in the afternoon thrilled the audience even if it stopped for a minute of silence in memory of yet another victim of femicide stabbed by her husband today in Battipaglia. De Giovanni is an all-round writer, he has covered various topics, among others violence against women, immigration and when asked if he watches his works on TV he replied that fiction is like a daughter that you raise, you try to give her a position and then she decides to become a stripper. Addressing the audience he asks "but would you go and see your daughter undress?" A man with a noble spirit who is moved and says "I killed him" when he tells that in some novel he has to kill one of the characters. In De Giovanni's latest work, Sorelle, a new investigation returns for the former secret agent Sara Morozzi, and it is the writer's return to the novel of the genre that has distinguished him and enthralled his readers, namely the detective story. Sisters begins with a kidnapped woman who wakes up and doesn't know what could have happened to her. It's Teresa Pandolfi, called Bionda, a beautiful and flashy manager of the Interception Unit 1 of the secret services. The woman was kidnapped during her morning jog because, according to someone whose toes she stepped on, this time she messed up big time, she overdid it and she has to pay for it with her life. Whoever kidnapped her knows full well that Teresa has no family ties, she lives alone so it's unlikely anyone will report her missing. But Teresa has a "sister", not by blood but by life. This sister is Sara.
The long day at Picentia Book concluded, accompanied on the piano by twenty-five-year-old Maestro Pablo Ciriaco and readings by Pascal Persiano, with the presentation of the book "An Esoteric Love" by Saverio Ferrara. In the book, the author recounts his idea of love, condemning the dynamics of a society often obsequious to appearances. The novel's protagonist is Massimo, a young provincial priest who, since childhood, has displayed a marked emotional sensitivity to transcendence. In moments of doubt and uncertainty, he turns to his "Masters," metaphysical entities who help him revisit his idea of the Catholic Church and understand God's teachings. One figure in particular will prove singular and crucial to the unfolding of events: the exorcist, Cardinal Gabriele, who, just like the protagonist, possesses overdeveloped sensory faculties. A captivating man, poet, painter, musician, and martial artist, Massimo is a magnet for many, especially women, captivated by his boundless knowledge and the energy he exudes. Some, in particular, will serve as a mirror to Massimo's human frailties: Mary, a longtime acquaintance; Simona, the girl with the third eye; and his muse, Sofia.
