Carabinieri officers from the Mondragone Territorial Unit have executed a coercive detention order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office against a 31-year-old Italian citizen under investigation for the murder of Anastasia Spinello.
The murder of seventy-three-year-old Anastasia Spinello occurred on December 18, 2018, inside her home on Via Guicciardini in Mondragone. The elderly woman was struck on the head with a blunt instrument and suffocated with a handkerchief that the attacker had forced into her mouth, causing her death.
The investigation, directed by the Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out by the Operations Section of the Carabinieri Territorial Department of Mondragone, has allowed, through the analysis of the content of telephone interceptions, as well as documentary evidence, telephone traffic records and statements made by some people informed of the facts, to reconstruct the complex criminal event that culminated with the murder of the elderly woman.

In particular, the current suspect, who had been close to the victim for years, providing assistance and support in her daily needs, taking advantage of the trust she had placed in him, her advanced age and her state of loneliness, allegedly, from 2015 to 2018, had her take out multiple loans and pension installment transfers at banks and financial agencies for a total of over 27.000,00 euros, to the point of making her unable to repay her debts.
The murder would have matured when the woman realized the financial ruin to which the suspect would have brought her, with the sole purpose of not bringing to light the money movements made by him.
