The idea of the Exhibition dedicated to Diego Armando Maradona was born three years ago, in 2020. And it was Amedeo Fusco himself who contacted Diego Maradona Junior, who was enthusiastic about the initiative.
Diego Junior, who was supposed to go to Buenos Aires on October 30, 2020 for his father's birthday, took advantage of the opportunity to invite the Argentine champion to the exhibition dedicated to him. Unfortunately, on November 25, 2020, Diego Armando Maradona passed away.
Diego Junior and Amedeo Fusco, after a year, met to be able to realize the exhibition, initially planned in Naples. The Exhibition “Maradona the footballer, art celebrates him”, It was included in the Chilli Pepper Festival precisely to pay homage to and enhance the spiciness of the God of football.
Maradona is a spicy character because he did not limit himself to just playing football, but always fought for the weakest. He used his fame to rebel against a system that saw the poor only as victims of oppression and events.
He gave voice to his people, and his sensitivity is the result of what he was before being Napoli's number 10. His childhood was marked by poverty and financial difficulties.
Growing up in a tough neighborhood taught him the harshness of life and made him deeply sensitive to the struggles of the weakest. This personal experience shaped his worldview and inspired his social commitment.
A spicy and uncomfortable man for the Powerful. Diego Maradona did not limit himself to football and charity; he was also a committed political activist.
He openly supported the human rights movement in Argentina and openly criticized government policies that he considered unjust. His political commitment earned him both admiration and criticism, but it demonstrated his willingness to fight for what he believed in.
It is no coincidence that Amedeo Fusco chose to give voice, through an exhibition, to Diego Armando Maradona. The multifaceted curator has already dealt in the past with controversial figures, spicy characters such as: Christ (with the exhibition Christ, Icon of Icons), Frida Kahlo (with the exhibition Homage to Frida), Don Quixote de la Mancha (with the exhibition Don Quixote el Dreamer).
