“Less smartphones, more interactions and free space for imagination…” was the guiding principle of “Il Musicodromo - Fucina Creativa”, the initiative promoted and implemented by the MSP (Music and Entertainment) Cultural Association which will be held on Friday 29 September in the Villa Comunale of Bacoli with the patronage of the AUTHORITY FOR PARK CAMPI FLEGREI – MUNICIPALITY OF BACOLI – FONDAZIONE CAMPANIA WELFARE

The day (starting at 17.30:XNUMX pm) features a wide range of activities designed for families with many attractions for adults and children: live music, creative workshops, but above all moments of in-depth study on the relationship between children and smartphones. The event will be hosted by the Neapolitan actor and influencer Luigi Di Razza.

The children who will participate in the event will be welcomed by the reading points promoted by the Nati per Leggere Association, they will be able to have fun, like a real Orchestra, by sonorizing a famous piece of classical music using the Orff instruments and body percussion with the PianoPiano Music School; Tonia Illiano will run a Cyanotype workshop where children will be able to touch an ancient printing technique with their own hands and will experiment with Ludobus Gioca Ora the power of creativity in the creation of games with recycled materials. And also: Yoga for children, a CicloOfficina workshop, a Beauty Farm space for little ones by Cosmetica Felgrea, Archery, Fencing, Target Shooting, and creativity and manipulation workshops by Arcobaleno Animation.

From 20pm onwards there will be live music with some of the most popular artists on the Neapolitan music scene: AfterSat, Peppoh, Valerio Jovine, Nicola Caso, Andrea Tartaglia, Daniele Sepe.

“The idea of organizing this event - explains Bruna Manfredonia, President of the MSP Cultural Association - It came to us as parents even before it came to us as social and cultural workers.

We imagined a day of disconnection to get back to being connected with what we believe to be the right vibes. We strongly believe that children currently make inappropriate use of all electronic devices; I even see newborns entertained with smartphones. This day was created to reaffirm that spending time together in a simple and genuine way, with outdoor games and good music, is the best way to raise creative, responsive, curious, and healthy children. "Our - concludes Manfredonia- It is an initiative designed for children, but which wants to send a message to parents; we hope it is the first of a long series of events".

There is a lot of scientific evidence on the problems connected to Screen-Time, that is, the time spent in front of a screen, be it a smartphone, a tablet or a video game. If, in fact, a moderate use of devices can be positive for the well-being of young people, also promoting learning skills, the "abuse of smartphones" promotes a sedentary lifestyle and overweight, reduces hours of sleep and can also lead to language delay in the youngest. And it is precisely in the very young that the alarm goes off: 80% of children under 2 years old use electronic devices.

To delve deeper into this delicate topic, psychologist Francesca Biondi will go on stage to reflect on it together with the families: "The advice is to give a smartphone to children as late as possible; by now all children in elementary school have a cell phone, while I think it is appropriate to wait at least until the beginning of middle school and not before having done a "contractualization" work regarding how and how much to use the cell phone. At this age, the parent has the duty to access the child's cell phone and see what happens, while starting in high school these constraints should be abandoned as trust and a sense of responsibility grow."

“The problem is not only related to the contents whose effects we can all imagine - continues Dr. Biondi - but what parents need to think about is that through the smartphone they delegate the entertainment of the child: think about the difference between reading a bedtime story and letting the child listen to it alone, on the cell phone. Again, just think about how many times at the restaurant we see children with cell phones, simply to not let them get bored: children, on the other hand, must also know boredom because, by getting bored, they sharpen their wits, imagination and creativity”.
