Severino Nappi, leader of the League in the Campania Regional Council, raises strong doubts about recent promotions in the Naples municipal police force
"Based on the documentation provided to me, it appears that the City of Naples has recently promoted several members of the Municipal Police Corps to the higher rank of Major. From what emerges, this "promotion" would appear to have been extended only to traffic police officers with the rank of Captain and holders of organizational positions," Nappi explains in a note.
And then he adds: “However, it seems that this requirement is not provided for by the specific regional law concerning “regional and local administrative police and security policies”.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the TAR Campania had previously expressed its opinion on the subject of “promotions”, annulling a resolution of the Naples City Council (number 68 of 4 September 2017) which intended to proceed with the assignment of the rank of Major in violation of such regulations.
To shed light on this situation that involves a sector of great importance within the public administration, especially in a delicate moment for city safety, I asked the Councilor for Security of the Campania Region to clarify the rules that Municipalities must follow regarding the career advancement of traffic police officers.
This is particularly important in order to eliminate any doubts regarding the new resolution of the Municipal Administration of Naples which led to the promotion in rank”.
