“Finally the 'Berlin Wall' erected in general disinterest in Largo Sermoneta is coming down thanks to the intervention of the Port Authority, giving back to citizens and tourists a corner of the panorama of unparalleled beauty in the world.
It is also the result of our continuous reports on this unacceptable situation which saw a cover erected over a fence built on a cliff to protect the customers of a private club, without taking into account that it had obscured the view from all the other citizens who, walking along the Lungomare or frequenting the adjacent public beach, suddenly found themselves faced with this visual barrier.
I thank the men of the Coast Guard for intervening to have this hideous black fence removed." This is the comment of the deputy of the Green Left Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who has repeatedly called for the removal of the barrier.
After 30 years the panorama at Largo Sermoneta in Naples will finally be returned to the city. In fact, the blackout barriers that were built by a private beach are being removed. All the parts that obscure the view have already been eliminated and now there is a discussion about eliminating the fence as well.
“Maybe it should have been done earlier and certain things like those that make it ugly and deprive citizens and tourists of one of the most beautiful corners of Naples should never be allowed.”– declare the deputy of the Green-left alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the municipal councilors of Green Europe Gianni Caselli and Lorenzo Pascucci.
