Last evening, the officers of the Poggioreale Police Station, during the territorial control service, while passing through via Nuova Poggioreale, noticed a scooter with a person on board who, at the sight of them, fled in an attempt to elude the control.
A chase ensued during which the suspect got rid of a weapon by throwing it on the sidewalk, but the police, having reached the corner with Via Zara in the same street, stopped him and, at the same time, recovered the weapon.
This is a Smith and Wesson revolver with six cartridges and a scratched serial number.
Therefore, the 19-year-old was arrested for carrying and illegal possession of a clandestine weapon and resisting a Public Official. The investigations will now continue to try to establish what the intentions of the young armed man were.
The weapon has meanwhile been sent to the scientific section which will have to establish whether it was used in recent criminal acts.
